In this seminar, we will introduce non-target screening (NTS), also called chemical fingerprinting, and discuss the potential of this method for Danish monitoring programs. Both surface, drinking and groundwater, biota or food are continuously surveyed for the presence of organic micropollutants, such as pesticides or PFAS. But are we looking for the correct compounds in the monitoring programs? Through a series of presentations, current applications of non-target screening will be introduced. Subsequently, we will discuss the possibilities and limitations of using non-target screening as a tool in Danish environmental monitoring in the future.
